This is a holding cage where the cavies wait to be judged on the table. The ear tape identifies the anmal so the judge doesn't have to read the tiny metal ear tag.

Oh I know. A common "ringside" whinefest has to do with "why can't they make the damn tag numbers legible??"

Those ear tags are so hard to read! Heck, I'm 17 and have good vision, but even I have a hard time reading a lot of them. That's a really good idea to have the stickers with the ear #!
