Huh. I checked the file--it's a regular PDF--should open with Acrobat or an image-viewing software like Preview.
Yeah, it would be nice to be able to afford to take pigs to the vet when they're sick, but I'll bet a high percentage, by the time you get them to the vet they're moribund. I've only taken my one pig, Latte' and it cost $70 for the exam and euthanasia. If it happened now with my husband out of work, I wouldn't be able to do it.
Maybe with vet fees so high it's not lucrative enough to offer reasonably-priced pet insurance ?

I don't know why it wouldn't open on my home computer but I was able to open and read the article at work this morning. Did you notice in the portion about the hedgehog, the insurance only paid $1900. of a $2700 bill? If you use it then it might be worth the premium if you only had one or two animals but as my research has shown me you are required to have a separate policy for each animal and most of my animals never require veterinary care I can't imagine paying premiums for 50+ cavies, 9 dogs and one cat. :)

You're at work very early! ;-D
I guess like anything else, if you have a large disposable income you could afford to spend $2700 on a hedgehog, and the $1900 would be a welcome rebate. Wonder how much you'd pay for coverage by the time you needed it, though. And the paperwork involved. Why bother if you can scrape up $2700 once in a while.
Or you could do like my daughter and just put the premium amount into the bank instead of to a pet ins. co. and be able to use that if needed.
But yeah covering a whole herd of pigs would be prohibitive, and I, too, rarely use a vet. Usually they die within 24 hours of your noticing they're sick!

I start at 7:30. Personal choice so I can be home by noon. It gets me out of bed early and gives me time to get lots done in the afternoon - if I am in the mood. :)

There have been times in the past when I might have considered it but the cost of the policies far exceeds any benefits as any pet policy I have ever researched required a separate policy for each animal.
I wasn't able to open the file so can't comment regarding specific terms of this policy.
